Great Journey so far

These are all the pics i took on the journey of MR SA 2010 so far. It's really been gr8 knowing everybody so far. My most highlight was doing charity work 4 our chosen Charity Organization i.e. Ons Huis Trust the home for mentally disabled adults. It's really amazing how much we can accomplish if we all work together as a team despite our race, upbringing and culture to achieve a common goal. No matter what happens with the competition (whether i go to be a finalist / not make it that far) the experience i've received and people i've met, i will never trade that for anything in the world. This journey has also taught me how much we under-estimate how fortunate we are. So giving back to people less fortunate than we are ahs taught me so much bout little things in life that we shud be greatful about.  So all in all, the semi finalist journey has been great and i'm wishing all the guys the best while we ambarking on this new journey yet again of the 12 Finalists.

Ons Huis Trust Charity Project

ONS HUIS is a project established by the Charity Commission of the Elarduspark Dutch Reformed Church's Presbytery. It was born out of the faith and determination of a group of parents who kept on believing that, with its acceptance and support, their mentally handicapped children would be able to live and work as normally as possible within the community. This is also what they communicated to the presbytery. The project enjoys the support of the Dutch Reformed Church congregations of Elarduspark, Moreleta Park and Oosterlig (Pretoria).

We get no government assistance and depend on contributions from the parents and community. We have applied for registration as a non-profit organisation.

VISION
To offer a permanent, full-time, protective home and activity centre to mentally handicapped adults, within a supportive environment, where they can enjoy adequate physical care and grow spiritually and emotionally so that they are able to make a contribution - no matter how small - to the community.

MISSION
To ensure that with the aid of community organisations and community involvement, and the establishment of the necessary aids and effective and dynamic management and operation of an effective, well-planned programme, individuals:
